Furniture Movers Across Canada

Not every move is a house. A sectional up two flights, a delivery collected from a warehouse, a bedroom shifted to another floor: all of it is booked the same way.

Furniture moving, from one piece to a part load

Furniture jobs are the ones that fall between a courier and a full move. A sofa bought secondhand across town, a dining set going to a family member, an office chair and two bookcases that will not survive a car. Cactus sends two movers and the truck the pieces actually need, and bills the hours the job takes.

The work is wrapping and geometry. Upholstery gets shrink wrap over a blanket, glass and stone tops travel separately, bed frames and modular sectionals come apart, and the crew works out the turn at the top of the stairs before anything is lifted. Furniture that never leaves the building counts too: rooms get swapped, basements get cleared, and a piece too heavy for one household is carried by people with straps.

  • Single items, small loads and store or warehouse collections
  • Sectionals, bed frames and flat pack units dismantled and rebuilt
  • Blankets and shrink wrap on upholstery, separate handling for glass tops
  • In home moves: room to room, floor to floor, or into and out of storage
  • Extra stops on the same booking where the pieces come from two places

Furniture movers in six cities

The crews, the trucks and the rates are local. Open the branch nearest the pickup and the phone number on the card rings that office.

There is no separate furniture moving page for Mississauga and Ottawa yet, so those cards open the branch page instead. The quote form on it reaches the same coordinators.

Call us or get a quote online. Either works.

How furniture moving is priced

Hourly, with the rate following the crew and the truck, and a two hour minimum on local work. A single item usually sits inside that minimum, so people often add the second and third piece they had been putting off, or use the hour to have the bedroom rearranged while the crew is there.

One operations fee covers the coordination the office does around the booking. Nothing is added for fuel, mileage or travel time within city limits. Stairs, a long carry and a second pickup address all change the hours, so all three go into the estimate rather than onto the invoice.

Furniture moving rates by city

Each branch publishes its own hourly rates, minimums and worked examples of small local jobs.

Mississauga has 7 local moves on record, and this table publishes a price at 30 or more, so that row carries its count and no figures. A spread taken from that many jobs would look like a measurement and read like a guess. What is firm at any sample size is the hourly rate card, and every city page below publishes it.

Totals are what Cactus invoiced, in Canadian dollars with tax in, for moves whose pickup and at least one drop-off were both inside the city. Medians and quartiles, never averages, winsorised at the 5th and 95th percentile so one unusual job cannot move a band. Storage and packing materials are billed on their own agreements and are outside these totals. Measured August 30, 2026.

Furniture moving questions

What people ask before booking one piece rather than a whole home.

Can you move a single sofa?

Yes, and it is one of the most common bookings we take. It is two movers and a truck, billed against the two hour minimum, which is why the office will ask whether anything else is going the same way.

Will you take a sectional apart?

Where it is built to come apart, yes, and it goes back together in the new room. Sectionals that are glued or stapled as one piece are moved whole, which makes the doorway measurement the thing to check before booking.

Can you collect furniture I bought from a store or a private seller?

Yes. Give us the pickup address and a contact who will be there, and the crew collects and delivers on one booking. Seller access and loading help are worth confirming in advance, because a locked garage costs the same hourly rate as a carry.

Do you move furniture inside a house without a truck?

Yes. A crew with no truck is a standard booking and it suits rearranging rooms, clearing a basement, or lifting heavy pieces so flooring can go down. It is billed by the hour like any other job.

How is a glass or marble top handled?

Separately from its base, blanketed and carried on edge, and secured on its own in the truck rather than stacked. Tell the office it is coming so the crew brings the right protection.

Can furniture go straight into storage?

Yes. The crew can deliver into a storage unit you have rented and stack it so the things you want first stay at the front. Give us the facility, the unit number and the access hours when you book.
