Most local moves in Toronto landed between $519 and $1,145, and the middle one was $709.
The middle one billed 3.5 hours with a crew of 2, which is what turns the rate card below into that total.
Movers in this city advertise an hourly rate and leave the total to your imagination. Here is the total, measured, with the range it usually sits inside.

residential, closed and invoiced
206 local moves in Toronto, December 2024 to August 2026. A local move is one whose pickup and at least one drop-off are both in Toronto. Figures are medians and quartiles of what Cactus actually invoiced, never averages, winsorised at the 5th and 95th percentile so one unusual job cannot move the band. Every total is in Canadian dollars, total cost with tax, and covers the crew, the truck and the hours billed on the agreement; storage and packing materials are billed separately. Business and high-frequency accounts are excluded. Cactus has closed 358 moves with at least one end in Toronto; the 206 measured here are the ones with both ends in the city, because a job that finishes in another one is a different kind of move and is priced as one. Measured August 30, 2026.

Toronto moving cost by apartment or house size
Toronto is the most vertical market we work in and it shows in the table: the one bedroom row rests on more jobs than every other row put together. That is the shape of the work here, and it is why a single city figure understates how many moves are small ones.
The three bedroom row carries the fewest jobs of the three and its band is correspondingly wide. We publish it because it is real and we mark the count beside it so nobody reads more into it than it can carry.
| Home size | Middle move | Middle half fell between | Moves measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bedroom | Middle move $710 | Middle half fell between $516 to $955 | Moves measured 65 |
| 2 bedroom | Middle move $1,007 | Middle half fell between $584 to $1,436 | Moves measured 38 |
| 3 bedroom | Middle move $1,241 | Middle half fell between $680 to $2,145 | Moves measured 9 |
The rates those invoices were built from
A local Toronto move is billed by the hour against the rate on your agreement, chosen with the crew and truck size before the day. The card below is the same one published on our Toronto page, minimums included.
The totals above are what we invoiced, tax included. The hourly rates below are quoted before tax, and a move agreement also carries our standard operations fee, which the crew confirms with you before the truck rolls.
These are the same rates in all six Cactus cities. The card a crew in Toronto is billed against is the card a crew in Calgary is billed against, on a weekday, a weekend or a holiday.

What decides the hours on a Toronto move
In a city of towers the building runs the clock more than the furniture does.
-
Book the service elevator at both ends
A reserved lift is the difference between one continuous carry and a crew sharing a passenger cab with residents and groceries. Property management usually wants a week of notice and a certificate of insurance, which we provide.
-
Find out where the truck is allowed to stand
Loading docks have height limits and time limits, and some downtown buildings have neither dock nor legal curb. Ten minutes on the phone before the day prevents an hour of shuttling boxes down a laneway.
-
Start in the morning if the building lets you
Most buildings run their move window across the working day, so a later start leaves less of it to work in. An early crew has the whole window in front of it rather than a deadline behind it.
-
Cut the load before you cut the crew
Two movers on a smaller load beats three on a full one for both time and cost. Selling or donating the pieces that will not fit the new place is the change that actually shortens the day.
When Toronto moves, so far
August, June and March hold the most completed local moves in Toronto so far, over a record that runs 21 months, December 2024 to August 2026.
That is 31, 24 and 24 jobs out of the 206 measured here. Two full years is the shortest run in which every month has come round twice, so read this as what we have done rather than as a season, and never as what is free to book.
The rate does not change by month. What changes is how far ahead a Saturday needs booking, and our own book is the only guide we have to that.

How much does a local move cost in Toronto?
The middle local move in Toronto came to $709 including tax, and half of the 206 jobs we have closed here landed between $519 and $1,145. The total is the hourly rate on your agreement multiplied by the hours the crew actually worked.
-
What does a one bedroom move cost in Toronto?
$710 across 65 one bedroom jobs, with half of them between $516 and $955. It is the size we do most often in this city, and the band is tight because a one bedroom with a booked elevator is a very predictable morning.
-
What about a two bedroom?
$1,007 is the middle of 38 two bedroom moves in Toronto and half of them fell between $584 and $1,436. The gap over a one bedroom is almost all furniture: sofas, bed frames and anything that has to be turned in a stairwell.
-
How long is a Toronto move on the clock?
The middle job billed 3.5 hours, with half of them between 3 and 5.25 hours. Building access is the main reason a job sits at the top of that range rather than the bottom, which is why the elevator booking is worth chasing.
-
Do I pay for the drive between addresses?
No. There is no charge for travel time within city limits, so what you are billed for is the crew working at your old place and your new one. That is also why a cross town move and a same neighbourhood move of the same size cost about the same here.
-
Is a deposit required to hold a Toronto date?
Not for a local move. The prices above are complete totals with tax, covering the crew, the truck and the hours on the agreement. Packing labour, materials and storage are quoted on their own because plenty of moves use none of them.
