What a Vancouver move has cost so far

Most local moves in Vancouver landed between $633 and $1,208, and the middle one was $822.

The middle one billed 4.5 hours with a crew of 2, which is what turns the rate card below into that total.

A young branch cannot publish a decade of history, and pretending otherwise is how price pages end up made up. What it can publish is every job it has finished, which is what this is.

every local move this branch has closed

75 local moves in Vancouver, November 2025 to August 2026. A local move is one whose pickup and at least one drop-off are both in Vancouver. Figures are medians and quartiles of what Cactus actually invoiced, never averages, winsorised at the 5th and 95th percentile so one unusual job cannot move the band. Every total is in Canadian dollars, total cost with tax, and covers the crew, the truck and the hours billed on the agreement; storage and packing materials are billed separately. Business and high-frequency accounts are excluded. Cactus has closed 145 moves with at least one end in Vancouver; the 75 measured here are the ones with both ends in the city, because a job that finishes in another one is a different kind of move and is priced as one. Measured August 30, 2026.

Vancouver moving cost by size of home

Two rows, and the second one is small. We show it with its count attached because a two bedroom price built on nine jobs is worth knowing and is not worth treating as settled, and hiding the count would let a reader assume otherwise.

There is no three bedroom row yet. Those moves exist, but not enough of them have closed to publish a figure that would survive the next few, so the row waits rather than being filled in from a bigger city.

The rates a Vancouver move is billed at

This is the part of the price that is fixed before anybody packs a box. A local move is billed by the hour at the rate on your agreement, and the card below is the one published on our Vancouver branch page.

The totals above are what we invoiced, tax included. The hourly rates below are quoted before tax, and a move agreement also carries our standard operations fee, which the crew confirms with you before the truck rolls.

These are the same rates in all six Cactus cities. The card a crew in Vancouver is billed against is the card a crew in Calgary is billed against, on a weekday, a weekend or a holiday.

What lengthens a move in Vancouver

Access decides more of the bill here than furniture does. Four things worth arranging before the day.

  • Reserve the loading bay, in writing

Buildings hand their move slots out by the hour and will turn a truck away outside them. Get the time confirmed by email and ask what the bay's height clearance is while you are on the phone.

  • Check whether the truck can legally stop

A narrow one way street with no loading zone means the crew carries further on every trip. Where a permit or a cone drop is possible, arranging it beats absorbing the extra distance dozens of times.

  • Plan for rain

Wet floors need runners down and wrapped furniture, which is time. Having towels, a tarp and a clear path at both ends keeps a wet day from becoming a slow one.

  • Break down what you can the night before

Bed frames, table legs and shelving units come apart faster without a clock running. Anything already flat when we arrive goes on the truck in one pass rather than two.

When Vancouver moves, so far

March, May and July hold the most completed local moves in Vancouver so far, over a record that runs 10 months, November 2025 to August 2026.

That is 15, 11 and 10 jobs out of the 75 measured here. Two full years is the shortest run in which every month has come round twice, so read this as what we have done rather than as a season, and never as what is free to book.

A short record is not a season and we will not call it one. The rate is the same in every one of these months; what moves is how quickly a Saturday goes.

How much does it cost to move within Vancouver?

The middle local move billed $822 with tax in, and half of the 75 jobs we have closed inside the city fell between $633 and $1,208. The total is the hourly rate on the agreement against the hours the crew actually worked.

  • What does a one bedroom move cost in Vancouver?

$860 across 26 one bedroom jobs, with half of them between $644 and $1,193. It is the most common size we move here and the row with the firmest ground under it.

  • How long does a local Vancouver move take?

The middle job billed 4.5 hours and half of them ran between 3 and 6.25 hours. That is working time at your two addresses, because travel time within city limits is not charged.

  • Is your Vancouver data as solid as your Calgary data?

No, and we would rather say it than imply it. This branch has 75 local moves on record against thousands in Calgary, so the Vancouver figures are real but younger, and a written estimate built from your own inventory beats either of them.

  • Do you take a deposit for a local move?

No deposit and no fuel surcharge. The figures above are the complete totals with tax, covering the crew, the truck and the billed hours. Packing materials and storage are quoted on their own agreements.

  • How big a crew comes to a Vancouver move?

Two movers on the middle job, which is also where the busier quarter sits at this branch. The estimator sets it from the room count and the access at both ends, and it is written into the agreement before moving day.

The branch page has the service list, the reviews page has what customers said afterwards, and a move leaving British Columbia is quoted as a long distance job.
