Appliance Movers Across Canada
A fridge weighs more than the two people usually asked to carry it. Cactus brings the straps, the stair dolly and the door protection, and keeps the machine upright.

This is the job where one item is the whole move: a French door refrigerator that will not clear the kitchen doorway, a washer and dryer stack going down to a basement, a range that has to come up a flight of outside steps. Cactus books it as its own visit, with two movers, the right truck and equipment made for weight rather than volume.
Getting a large appliance through a house is mostly measuring. The crew takes the fridge doors off where the opening demands it, lifts door slabs off their hinges, lays runners on hardwood and tile, and moves the machine on a stair dolly with straps rather than on somebody's knees. Refrigerators travel upright, which is what keeps the compressor oil where it belongs.
- Refrigerators, freezers, ranges, dishwashers, washers and dryers
- Appliance doors and house doors removed and refitted where the opening is tight
- Stair dollies, lifting straps and floor runners brought to every job
- Upright transport for refrigeration, and time allowed before it is switched on
- Single appliance visits, or appliances moved inside a full house move

Appliance movers in six cities
Availability for a short single item visit changes by branch and by week. The city page has the local number and the next open dates.
Call us or get a quote online. Either works.
How an appliance move is priced
It is the same hourly model as any local job: the rate follows the crew and the truck, and there is a two hour minimum. One appliance across town rarely fills the minimum, which is why the office will often suggest putting two or three items on the same visit, or attaching the appliance to a move you already have booked.
One operations fee covers the office coordination, and there is no fuel surcharge, no mileage and no travel time charge within city limits. What changes the number is access: an outside staircase, a narrow basement turn or a machine that has to be lifted over a railing all add crew time and are quoted before the day, not after it.
Appliance moving rates by city
The branch cost pages carry the hourly rates the two mover crew is billed at, plus what a short local visit usually adds up to.
Mississauga has 7 local moves on record, and this table publishes a price at 30 or more, so that row carries its count and no figures. A spread taken from that many jobs would look like a measurement and read like a guess. What is firm at any sample size is the hourly rate card, and every city page below publishes it.
Totals are what Cactus invoiced, in Canadian dollars with tax in, for moves whose pickup and at least one drop-off were both inside the city. Medians and quartiles, never averages, winsorised at the 5th and 95th percentile so one unusual job cannot move a band. Storage and packing materials are billed on their own agreements and are outside these totals. Measured August 30, 2026.

Appliance moving questions
The five things people ask before they book a fridge or a washer.
Will you disconnect and reconnect my appliances?
No. Gas, water and electrical connections are work for a licensed trade, and an appliance should be disconnected and drained before the crew arrives. Book the trade first and the mover second; the crew then handles the lift, the carry and the transport.
My fridge will not fit through the kitchen door. What happens?
The crew measures first, then takes off whatever is quicker to remove: the refrigerator doors, the handles, or the house door and its hinges. Everything comes off with the hardware kept together and goes back on before they leave.
Can a refrigerator be laid on its side?
We move refrigeration upright. Laying a fridge down sends compressor oil into the cooling lines, and it then needs hours of standing before it can be run safely. Upright transport takes that risk out of the day entirely.
How soon can I plug the fridge back in?
Give it a few hours upright in its new spot before switching it on, and check the manufacturer's own guidance, since it varies by model. The crew will set it in place, level it and leave it standing so the clock starts as soon as they are done.
Do you take the old appliance away?
We move appliances rather than dispose of them. A machine can be dropped at a location you name, including a recycling depot or a buyer's address, and that stop is quoted as part of the visit.
