Movers in Jasper Park: what we know about moving here

Jasper Park splits close to evenly twice over: between owners and renters, and between houses and apartments. That makes it a neighbourhood to ask about rather than to assume about. Lease endings and possession dates both turn up in quantity, and a crew booked here is roughly as likely to be working a shared entrance and a stair run as a driveway.

Households are small, with a large share of homes holding a single person, so the loads tend to be a unit’s worth rather than a whole home’s. Nothing here stands at five storeys or more, so the access question is the stair run and the walk to the truck rather than a lift and a booked bay. The measured figures below step out one ring, to the southwest Edmonton communities Jasper Park forms part of.

Moving costs around Jasper Park, by the numbers

That ring is 53 southwest Edmonton communities and 210 residential moves. The middle one ran 4.63 hours on site, half of them between 2.5 and 7.5 hours, and 70% were graded small against 5% large. Prices centred on $887 with tax counted, with the quartiles at $478 and $1,629. Garneau contributes 21 of the moves, Haddow and Terwillegar South 11 each. It pools every size of home in the ring, so it is a band rather than a quote.

How much does it cost to move in Jasper Park?

$887 is the median local move across the 210 residential jobs recorded in the southwest Edmonton communities around Jasper Park, total cost with tax, with half of them between $478 and $1,629. That band is as wide as it is because Jasper Park splits close to evenly between houses and apartments, and on an hourly rate a whole-home day and a one-room one are different lengths.

  • Is an apartment move different from a house move in Jasper Park?

The difference is where the day starts and how far the walk is, not the rate: both are billed by the hour on the same terms. Close to half the homes here are apartments, so a shared entrance, a stair run and where the truck can wait are the things worth settling first; a detached home is a driveway and an interior stair instead.

  • Does the time of year change what a move costs in Jasper Park?

No. The hourly rate is the same in every month, so no date is priced differently from another. What changes with the season is the volume of work: across the southwest Edmonton communities around Jasper Park, August is the heaviest month on record, then July and June. The size of the job is what decides the bill.

  • How long does a move in Jasper Park take?

The middle job across those 210 southwest Edmonton moves ran 4.63 hours on site, with half of them between 2.5 and 7.5 hours. Travel time within city limits is not charged, so those on-site hours are the whole of what a local move is billed for. The volume coming out therefore matters more to the total than the address does.

  • Are there hidden fees on a local move?

None. The hourly rate is written into the agreement before the crew starts and nothing is added afterwards: no deposit on a local move, no fuel surcharge, and no charge for travel time within city limits.

Jasper Park neighbourhood guide for moving day

Nearly half the homes in Jasper Park are apartments of one form or another and a large share of households are a single person, which together describe plenty of one- and two-room loads and comparatively few whole-home days. Nothing here is in a building of five storeys or more, so the questions are the stair run and where the truck can stand rather than a tower lift and a booked bay. On-street standing is what Edmonton’s On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit covers: no fee at present, and a minimum of 6 working days’ notice sought for lower-impact work.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

I Have used them on 2 occasions to help move a family member out their house. 1st move house to storage that was a long move which is normal 8 hours with 2 movers not bad at all. 2nd move storage into the appartment ( Ivan and George load the truck under 1hr) . the move was done under 6 hours.

Overall I had a great experience with my move. The quote was fast and all my questions were answered right away. I was a little surprised that the movers showed up in a U-Haul truck, but George and Nikita were efficient, respectful and professional.
