Movers in Crestwood: what we know about moving here

The middle home in Crestwood was built in 1960 or before, and that one line shapes the rest of the panel. This is a neighbourhood of detached, owner-occupied houses with nothing in it at five storeys or more, so the access question is a driveway and a front door rather than a lift and a loading bay. The households are on the smaller side; the houses are not, and it is the house rather than the number of people in it that decides how long a day runs.

What that comes to is measured below across the southwest Edmonton communities around Crestwood.

Moving costs around Crestwood, by the numbers

Those surrounding communities, 54 of them, account for 209 residential moves. The middle job ran 4.5 hours on site and came to $886 with tax in, with half of them landing between $477 and $1,624 and between 2.5 and 7.5 hours. Seventy per cent were graded small, a quarter medium and 5% large. The band is wide because one median has to cover every size of home inside it.

How much does it cost to move in Crestwood?

$886 is the median total with tax across 209 residential moves in the southwest Edmonton communities around Crestwood, with half of them falling between $477 and $1,624. Nothing is added afterwards: no deposit on a local move, and no fuel surcharge.

  • How long does a move in Crestwood take?

4.5 hours on site is the median across those 209 residential moves, with the middle half of them running 2.5 to 7.5 hours. Because there is no charge for travel time within city limits, those on-site hours are what a local move is billed for. The walk between the front door and the truck is a real part of the total.

  • Why do prices in Crestwood range so widely?

Because one median has to cover every size of home: 70% of those 209 moves graded small, 25% medium and 5% large, and the same hourly rate applies to all of those sizes. That is why the middle half spans $477 to $1,624. The spread is the size of the job, not a difference in the rate. A walkthrough before the date is what narrows it.

  • Is it cheaper to move at a certain time of year in Crestwood?

No. August, July and June have carried more of those 209 completed moves in the surrounding communities than any other month, and every one of those dates is billed at the same hourly rate as any other. What moves a total is the size of the job and the hours it takes.

Crestwood neighbourhood guide for moving day

A neighbourhood of detached houses with nothing at five storeys or more is one where the whole access question is the street and the front door: no tower lift to hold, no loading bay window to fit the day into. Households here are small, so the count of occupants is not what makes a Crestwood day long; the size of the house is. If the truck cannot use the driveway, an On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit from Edmonton is what puts it legally on the road: no fee at present for the work reasons that cover it, and low-impact requests filed a minimum of 6 working days ahead, longer through peak construction season.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

We had a small job and Cactus did not hesitate to help us out. They came and moved our fridge and stove out of the kitchen while we were renovating our kitchen. The day after the renos were done they came and put it back. Thank you Oleg, Abhishek, and the other fellow for you very professional help.

Residential moving done right! Fantastic company. We used them today for our 2 bedroom move and everything went fantastic. The movers showed up on time and we got a free gift of coffee from their office to kick start our morning! Very nice personal touch. Both movers were polite and professional.
