Movers in Carter Crest: what we know about moving here

More than one home in five in Carter Crest is a row house, sitting alongside a detached majority and a small semi-detached share, which is a denser mix than the tenure figure hints at, since almost every home here is owned rather than rented. Households are moderate in size, the housing dates from the 1990s, and nothing in the community is built to five storeys, so there is no tower lift to reserve and the access question is a front walk and a kerb. Below this, the numbers widen out to the ring of southwest Edmonton communities Carter Crest belongs to, which is where the measured moving data for this part of the city lives.

Moving costs around Carter Crest, by the numbers

That ring holds 53 southwest Edmonton communities and 202 completed residential moves. On site, the middle job took 4.75 hours with half running 2.5 to 7.5; on price, the median was $877 with tax in and the middle half $478 to $1,534. Small jobs accounted for 71% of that, medium for 24% and large for 5%. Carter Crest is owned rather than rented almost throughout and its homes are larger than a suite, so a job here lands in that medium band more often than the split alone suggests.

How much does it cost to move in Carter Crest?

The nearest measured price comes from 202 residential moves taken across the southwest Edmonton communities beside Carter Crest: an $877 median, tax included, with half of the jobs falling between $478 and $1,534. A Carter Crest move is charged hourly, with the rate, movers plus truck, set out in the agreement before the crew starts and no deposit taken. Where a particular job lands in that band comes down to volume and stairs.

  • How long does a local move around Carter Crest take?

The middle job across those 202 moves ran 4.75 hours on site, with half of them between 2.5 and 7.5 hours. Because the rate is hourly and travel time within city limits is not charged, those hours are the whole of what a local move is billed on. A house with a garage behind it and a set of interior stairs takes longer than a suite does, which is most of that spread.

  • What is a row house move like in Carter Crest?

It is usually a longer carry than a detached move of the same size. More than one home in five in Carter Crest is a row house, and on a shared run there is often nowhere to put the truck directly outside the right door, so the distance between the door and the tailgate is what adds the hours. Nothing here reaches five storeys, so there is no lift to book and the vertical work is interior stairs. Both are billed at the same hourly rate.

  • Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Carter Crest?

Only where the truck has to occupy the road rather than the frontage. That is Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit, which currently carries no fee for this class of work, and processing takes about 6 business days. The City asks for a minimum of 6 working days on low-impact work and 10 on high-impact, with longer waits during peak construction season, so it is a call to make when you book rather than on the day.

Carter Crest neighbourhood guide for moving day

A row house and a detached house are not the same access problem, and Carter Crest has a lot of both. On a shared run of homes there is often nowhere to put the truck directly outside the right door, so the carry is longer; on a detached lot the frontage usually settles it. Nothing here reaches five storeys, so the whole neighbourhood moves without a tower lift and every load goes down interior stairs and along a front walk. The one thing to arrange ahead is street occupancy: Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit currently carries no fee for this class of work, but processing takes about 6 business days.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

I was 100% satisfied with Cactus Moving. My movers were prompt, courteous, and did an amazing job. I would use this company again and recommend them to others. I appreciated the call before the move confirming everything as well as the call after the move to make sure I was satisfied.

Big shout out to George and Lovish who moved 4400 sq ft worth of furniture , in under 6 hours, during a snow storm. They arrived on time, with an extremely positive attitude despite knowing that they had to work in -25 degree weather.

George and Lovish were amazing and very accommodating while moving a fridge for my grandparents! The delivery was very timely despite the 2 feet of snow and a rocking blizzard and they navigated the tight spaces of our home with ease!
