Movers in Duggan: what we know about moving here

Duggan's housing splits in a way that puts two very different jobs on the same streets: houses on one side, apartments in low-rise buildings on the other, and enough of each that a crew meets both regularly. Tenure follows the same line, with a substantial minority renting, so the calendar mixes possession dates with lease turnovers. Nothing here climbs to five storeys, which means the apartment work is a staircase rather than a tower lift, and the house work is a driveway and a front door.

The measurements below take in the whole southwest Edmonton group Duggan belongs to.

Moving costs around Duggan, by the numbers

Two hundred and one residential moves across 53 communities make up that group, and their spread is wide: $477 to $1,546 for the middle half around an $886 median, and 2.5 to 7.75 hours around a 4.75-hour one. Seventy per cent of them were small jobs, a quarter medium and the remaining 5% large. That is a broad band on a single hourly rate, and it is the range of home sizes rather than the rate that produces it.

How much does it cost to move in Duggan?

$886 is the median total with tax across the 201 residential moves in the southwest Edmonton communities around Duggan, with half of them falling between $477 and $1,546. Cactus bills a local move by the hour, at a rate the number of movers and the size of the truck decide, and the agreement states it before the crew starts.

  • What is a low-rise apartment move like in Duggan?

32% of Duggan's homes are apartments in low-rise buildings, and none of the housing here reaches five storeys, so a job at that kind of address is a shared entrance and a staircase rather than a tower lift and a loading bay. Telling the crew the floor when you book is what keeps the hours honest, since a local move is billed by the hour. The rate is the same one a house on the same street is billed at.

  • Why is the price range in Duggan so wide?

Because one median covers every size of home: the middle half of those 201 moves ran 2.5 to 7.75 hours on site, and on an hourly rate a job at each end of that cannot come to the same total. 70% of the set graded small, 25% medium and 5% large. Nothing about the rate changes between them. What changes is how long the work takes.

  • How long does a move in Duggan take?

4.75 hours on site is the median across the 201 residential moves in the surrounding southwest Edmonton communities. Because there is no charge for travel time within city limits, those are the hours a local move is billed for: the clock is the work, not the road. Duggan's houses and its low-rise units sit at different points on that clock, which is why a walkthrough before the date is worth the time.

Duggan neighbourhood guide for moving day

The apartment share is the thing to plan around. A third of Duggan's homes are in low-rise buildings, which puts a shared entrance and a staircase between the unit and the truck, and since none of them climbs to five storeys there is no tower lift to book and no bay to reserve. The rest behave like ordinary house moves, off a driveway and out a front door. Where the two meet is the curb, and the road itself is permitted work: the City's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit, no charge at present for this class of use, filed 6 working days ahead for a routine request and 10 for a heavier one.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

Thank you Cactus!!! 😁😁😁 Andrii, Vadim and Chint were super nice. They move our heavy couch πŸ›‹οΈ without any damages - put a moving blanket on it, shrink wrapped it and protected floor with some special pads. It was very effective and looked professional. I'm recommending that company.
