Movers in Wild Rose: what we know about moving here

Wild Rose is a community of owned family houses. More than three homes in four are single-detached, the great majority are owner-occupied rather than rented, and households run full: well over three people to a home, with only a small minority living alone. That combination puts the work on possession days rather than month ends, and it makes a job here a whole family's contents out of a house with a driveway: more to carry than a flat, no tower lift to reserve, and a garage worth starting on before the crew arrives. The wider figures below come from the southeast Edmonton communities around it.

Thirty per cent of the 110 residential moves in the 29 southeast Edmonton communities around Wild Rose were graded medium and 6% large, with 64% small, a mix that produces a 4.25-hour median on site and a middle half running from 2.75 to 6.75. How much does it cost to move in Wild Rose?

The median local move across the 110 residential jobs in the southeast Edmonton communities around Wild Rose came to $843 with tax included, and half of them fell between $500 and $1,303. Rates are hourly, set by the number of movers and the truck the job needs, and written into the agreement before the crew starts.

  • What does it cost to move a whole family house in Wild Rose?

There is no flat price for a house. The rate is hourly, so a bigger home is more hours rather than a different rate. Across the surrounding southeast communities 30% of the 110 moves were graded medium and 6% large, and the median day was 4.25 hours on site with half running 2.75 to 6.75. The more of the house that is boxed before the crew arrives, the shorter the day.

  • Is it cheaper to move at a certain time of year in Wild Rose?

No. The hourly rate does not change with the date, so no day in Wild Rose is priced differently from another. What changes with the season is the volume of work: August, June and November carry the most completed moves in the surrounding southeast Edmonton communities. The size of the job, not the month, is what sets the total.

  • Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Wild Rose?

Usually not, because most homes here are detached with their own driveway. Where a truck has to occupy the roadway instead, Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit is what covers it: no fee under the current schedule, about 6 business days to process, and a minimum of 6 working days' notice for low-impact work.

Wild Rose neighbourhood guide for moving day

Three things on this panel point the same way: the housing is overwhelmingly detached, the households are full, and almost all of them own. That is the profile of a planned move out of a whole house, and on an hourly rate it argues for a bigger crew rather than a longer day. Nothing here is in a building of five storeys or more, so there is no tower lift to reserve. If the truck needs the road instead of the driveway, Edmonton's OSCAM permit currently costs nothing but takes about 6 business days, with a minimum of 6 working days' notice for low-impact work.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.
