Movers in Forest Heights: what we know about moving here

Forest Heights is a mixed neighbourhood rather than a house neighbourhood. Roughly half of it is detached and most of the rest is duplex and low-rise apartment housing, which is why the rented share runs well above what the detached figure on its own would suggest. The smaller units carry it. Households here are small and a large minority of homes hold a single person, so much of the work is a light load rather than a full house. Nothing stands five storeys, and the vertical part of a job here is a staircase.

Our own jobs have been short. The middle of the at least 7 residential moves recorded inside Forest Heights ran 2.75 hours on site, against 4.25 across the 104 moves in the surrounding southeast communities, and crews of 2 to 3 covered them. Six of the seven closed with a comparable local total, and the middle of those came to $760 with tax.

Forest Heights neighbourhood guide for moving day

Read the housing here as two different moving days. About half of Forest Heights is detached, where the truck works from a driveway or the kerb and the obstacle is the staircase inside. The rest is mostly duplex and low-rise apartment housing, where the obstacle is a shared entry and a stair with no tower lift behind it, because nothing in the neighbourhood reaches five storeys. Where the drive will not take a truck, Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit covers standing in the roadway; it carries no fee at present, and a low-impact request is meant to be filed 6 working days ahead.

A one-bedroom apartment or condo move across the southeast Edmonton communities beside Forest Heights is a 3-hour job at the median, with 2 movers and 1 truck, and half of the 13 behind that figure ran between 3 and 4.25 hours. Fewer than five moves of this size here, so these figures come from Southeast Edmonton, across 13 moves.

A second bedroom takes the southeast Edmonton median to 5.25 hours on site, still with 2 movers and 1 truck, and half of the 23 jobs behind it ran between 3.88 and 6.88 hours. Most of the addition is boxes rather than furniture, which is why how many rooms are already packed when the crew arrives is what separates a five-hour day from a seven-hour one. Packing services are available and quoted separately.

Fewer than five moves of this size here, so these figures come from Southeast Edmonton, across 23 moves.

  • 6.75 hours on site half ran 4.88–9.5 hours

That is a full working day rather than a morning, and the width of the band is what is in the basement and the garage rather than the number of bedrooms. A walkthrough before the date is the thing that tells you where in that spread your own day will fall.

How much does it cost to move in Forest Heights?

The median local move in Forest Heights costs $760, total cost with tax, taken from the 6 completed jobs here that closed with a comparable local total; half of them fell between $435 and $1,154. Cactus bills by the hour, at a rate set by the number of movers and the size of the truck, and that rate is in the agreement before the crew starts.

  • How long does a move in Forest Heights take?

The middle move recorded inside Forest Heights ran 2.75 hours on site, with half of the 7 jobs between 2.13 and 4.88 hours. That is shorter than the 4.25-hour median across the 104 moves in the surrounding southeast communities. Small households and a lot of duplex and apartment housing are what a short day looks like. Travel time within city limits is not charged, so the clock is the work itself.

  • What does a one-bedroom move cost around Forest Heights?

$510 is the median for a one-bedroom apartment or condo move across the southeast Edmonton communities around Forest Heights, from 13 jobs, with half of them between $451 and $928. That is 2 movers, 1 truck and about 3 hours on site. A two-bedroom runs $979 and a three-bedroom $1,142. The cards above give the crew, the hours and the band for each.

  • Why is the price range in Forest Heights so wide?

Because six jobs at one hourly rate can still cover very different days: the $435 to $1,154 band is the middle half of the completed local moves here, and it spans a light flat and a full house. Splitting the work by the size of the home, as the cards above do, answers the question better than one figure for the whole neighbourhood can.

  • What is included in the hourly rate in Forest Heights?

The movers and a truck sized to the job, with the rate stated in the agreement before anyone starts. The $760 median above is a total with tax, not a subtotal.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.
