Movers in Richfield: what we know about moving here

Row houses outnumber detached houses in Richfield, and the households inside them are large: 3.1 people to a home, with fewer than one in five occupied by a single person. More people under a roof means more to carry, and a row house means the stairs are internal rather than in a lobby. So a full-day booking is the more realistic assumption here than a morning one.

Tenure splits almost down the middle, so the community sees lease-end moves and possession-day moves in roughly equal measure. What a move runs to in hours and money is set out below, drawn from the southeast Edmonton communities Richfield sits among.

Moving costs around Richfield, by the numbers

Four hours on site is the median across the 113 residential moves in the 29 southeast Edmonton communities beside Richfield, among them Summerside, Bonnie Doon, King Edward Park and Ottewell. The middle half of them ran anywhere from 2.75 to 6.75. 65% were graded small, 28% medium and 7% large. In money that works out to a $726 median with tax included, half of the 113 falling between $478 and $1,212.

How much does it cost to move in Richfield?

The median local move across the southeast Edmonton communities around Richfield is $726, total cost with tax, and half of those 113 completed jobs fell between $478 and $1,212.

  • Is it cheaper to move at a certain time of year in Richfield?

No. The hourly rate does not change by month, so no date in Richfield is priced differently from another. What moves with the season is how much work there is: across the southeast Edmonton communities the busiest months have been August, June and September. Because the rate is hourly and travel time within city limits is not charged, the real lever on a total is the size of the job.

  • How long does a move in Richfield take?

The middle move across the 113 jobs completed in the southeast Edmonton communities around Richfield ran 4 hours on site, with half of them between 2.75 and 6.75 hours. With 3.1 people to a household here, the longer end of that spread is the more realistic one to plan around, and a walkthrough before the date is what turns it into a firmer number.

  • What is included in the hourly rate in Richfield?

The movers and the truck at the size the job needs, with the rate written into the agreement before anything is lifted. The $726 median above is a total with tax rather than a subtotal. Because travel time within city limits is not billed and there is no fuel surcharge, a Richfield job is charged for the hours the crew spends on the internal stairs and the front path, which is what the 4-hour median above measures.

Richfield neighbourhood guide for moving day

Two figures on this panel do most of the work. The first is 3.1 people to a household, the kind of number that makes a full-day booking more realistic than a morning one, and a bigger load than the address type alone suggests. The second is that no home in Richfield is in a building of five storeys or more: no tower lift to reserve and no loading bay to hold, which leaves the interior stairs and the front path. For the road outside, Edmonton uses an On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit. It carries no fee at present, takes roughly 6 business days to come back, and low-impact work should go in 6 working days ahead, or 10 for anything heavier.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

Did a long distance move and it was the smoothest move ever. The guys were so kind, respectful and on time. I trusted the reviews and wasn’t disappointed, plus we got our little Cactus. Highly recommended.

April 2024: From initial call to completion of move we were very impressed and happy with Cactus Movers. A crew of 3 showed up on time and worked hard throughout the day taking 2 full loads in their 26’ truck. They took care in preparations and protecting our stuff, floors and walls.

This was such an efficient group. They were friendly and clarified exactly what needed to be done. Even when we said not to worry about shoes and floors they still laid out mats to protect the floor. I highly recommend and the mini cactus gift at the end was a cute touch.
