Movers in Tweddle Place: what we know about moving here

Half of Tweddle Place is single-detached housing, with low-rise apartments and row homes making up most of the rest and nothing in a building of five storeys or more. That mix decides what a moving day looks like: more jobs start at a driveway than at a building entrance, but enough start at a stairwell that the floor number is worth mentioning when you book. Tenure leans to ownership without being lopsided, so possession days and lease ends both appear in the calendar, and the households are family-sized rather than single-occupant. For what a job actually takes and costs, the band below pools the southeast Edmonton communities Tweddle Place sits inside.

How much does it cost to move in Tweddle Place?

The median local move across the 118 residential jobs in the southeast Edmonton communities around Tweddle Place came to $728 with tax included, and half of them fell between $481 and $1,215. Rates are hourly, set by the number of movers and the size of the truck, and the agreement states the figure before the crew starts loading.

  • Why do moving prices around Tweddle Place vary so much?

Because the same hourly rate is applied to jobs of very different lengths: the middle half of the 118 moves ran anywhere from 2.56 to 6.69 hours on site. Two-thirds of them were graded small and 8% large, and it is that spread of job sizes, rather than a spread of rates, that produces a band from $481 to $1,215.

  • Is it cheaper to move at a certain time of year in Tweddle Place?

No. The hourly rate is the same on any date, so nothing about the calendar changes the price. What changes is how much work there is: August, June and November carry the most completed moves across the surrounding southeast Edmonton communities. The size of the job, not the month, is what sets the total.

  • Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Tweddle Place?

Only if the truck has to stand in the roadway instead of a driveway. Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit is what covers that; it carries no fee under the current schedule, takes about 6 business days to process, and wants 6 working days' notice for low-impact work and 10 for anything heavier.

Tweddle Place neighbourhood guide for moving day

With half the homes detached and none of them in a building of five storeys or more, the usual apartment obstacles mostly do not arise in Tweddle Place: a lift to reserve, a shared service door, a loading window handed down by the building. What replaces them is the driveway and the road it opens onto. If a truck has to take the road rather than the drive, Edmonton's OSCAM permit is the mechanism: no fee at the moment, about 6 business days of processing, 6 working days' notice for low-impact work and 10 for anything larger, with longer waits in peak construction season.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.
