Movers in Fulton Place: what we know about moving here

Fulton Place is a small, settled, owner-occupied pocket of northeast Edmonton: detached houses almost throughout, with a modest share of low-rise apartment and duplex housing beside them and nothing in a building of five storeys or more. Most jobs here therefore start at a front door with a driveway behind it and stairs inside, on a possession date rather than at the end of a lease. Households are small, and close to three in ten homes hold a single person, so the loads are not uniformly large even where the houses are.

What follows is drawn from the ring of northeast Edmonton communities Fulton Place sits inside, since that is where the comparable work has been done.

Moving costs around Fulton Place, by the numbers

That ring is 32 northeast Edmonton communities and 98 completed moves, with Belvedere, Ottewell and Parkdale the ones we have worked in most. The middle job took 3.88 hours on site and came to $684 with tax in, with half of the work between $441 and $1,106. Seventy-seven per cent were graded small and 20% medium. A size with fewer than five moves behind it is withheld, so those two shares do not cover the whole set.

How much does it cost to move in Fulton Place?

The median residential move across the northeast Edmonton communities around Fulton Place costs $684, total cost with tax, and half of those 98 jobs fell between $441 and $1,106.

  • How long does a move in Fulton Place take?

The middle move across the 98 recorded around Fulton Place ran 3.88 hours on site, with half of them between 2.25 and 5.69 hours. A detached house with stairs at both ends sits toward the longer end of that; a single-person household toward the shorter. Travel time within city limits is not charged, so the on-site hours are what the total is built from.

  • Do you charge for travel time to Fulton Place?

No. There is no charge for travel time within city limits, so a Fulton Place move is billed for the hours the crew is actually working. Across the surrounding northeast communities that is a median of 3.88 hours, with half of the 98 jobs between 2.25 and 5.69.

  • Is an apartment move in Fulton Place different from a house move?

It is a shorter day at the same hourly rate. Most of Fulton Place is detached housing, but roughly one home in seven is an apartment in a low-rise building, and those jobs trade a driveway and a full house for a shared entry and a smaller load. Nothing here is in a building of five storeys or more, so the vertical part of either job is a staircase rather than a lift.

Fulton Place neighbourhood guide for moving day

Fulton Place is detached and owner-occupied almost throughout, so a move here is usually a whole house on a possession date rather than a unit on a lease date. Book the crew for the day the keys change hands, and allow for stairs at both ends. Kerb access is simpler than in a tower district but not automatic: Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit is the one that covers occupying the street, it currently carries no fee, and processing takes about 6 business days, longer through peak construction season.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

Rough start, strong finish I hired Cactus Moving twice: first to move my belongings into storage, and later to move everything into my new home once construction was finished. The first move was very disappointing. The day started with a truck breakdown on the way to my house.

I was 100% satisfied with Cactus Moving. My movers were prompt, courteous, and did an amazing job. I would use this company again and recommend them to others. I appreciated the call before the move confirming everything as well as the call after the move to make sure I was satisfied.
