Movers in Eastwood: what we know about moving here

Eastwood is a neighbourhood of small households in walk-up buildings. Most of its homes are apartments in low-rise blocks, two-thirds of the stock is rented, and a large share of it holds a single person, which is why a job here is usually a light load behind a shared front door rather than a house with a driveway. Nothing reaches five storeys, so there is no tower lift to reserve; what there is instead is a stairwell, and knowing which floor before the date is what keeps the hours honest.

The band below is what the surrounding northeast Edmonton communities record.

How much does it cost to move in Eastwood?

$615 is the median total with tax across the 85 residential moves in the northeast Edmonton communities around Eastwood, with half of them falling between $435 and $1,072. Cactus bills a local move by the hour, at a rate the number of movers and the size of the truck decide between them, and the agreement states it before the crew starts.

  • What does a one-person apartment move look like in Eastwood?

43% of Eastwood's homes hold a single person and 49% of them are apartments in low-rise buildings. Across the surrounding northeast Edmonton communities 78% of completed moves graded small, at a $615 median. The practical questions at that size are the floor, the stairwell and where the truck can stop, since the billing is hourly and the walk from the door to the truck is part of the job.

  • Is it cheaper to move at a certain time of year in Eastwood?

No. June, August and July have carried more of the 85 completed moves in the surrounding communities than any other month, and that is a record of when work happened rather than a price list; the hourly rate is the same across all of them. What moves a total is how much there is to carry and how long it takes.

  • How long does a move in Eastwood take?

3.75 hours on site is the median across the 85 residential moves in the surrounding northeast Edmonton communities, with the middle half of them running 2 to 5.25 hours. A stairwell at one end or both is the usual reason a job runs to the longer part of that spread.

Eastwood neighbourhood guide for moving day

Half of Eastwood's homes are apartments in low-rise buildings, which puts a shared front door, a corridor and a staircase between the unit and the truck; since nothing here is five storeys or more, a tower lift is not part of the picture. A rented majority means the date is more often a lease date than a possession date, which is the kind of date fixed weeks ahead by somebody else. If the truck has to sit on the road rather than a lot, Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit wants 6 working days' notice on low-impact work and 10 on high-impact, with no fee attached at present.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

We had a great experience with Cactus. The guys were efficient, strong and friendly. Owen who I dealt with via email and booking was good to deal with too. We have a couple minor repairs to deal with but I can confident in this organization to follow this though.
