Movers in Abbottsfield: what we know about moving here

Every home the census counts in Abbottsfield is a row house or a low-rise apartment, and none of them stands five storeys or higher. Two-thirds are rented. That settles the shape of a moving day before anything else does: a shared or attached entry, interior stairs, and a date that follows a lease rather than a possession time. There is no tower lift to reserve. A low-rise can still have one, though, which is worth asking the building rather than assuming either way.

The band below comes from the northeast Edmonton communities next to Abbottsfield, and it is the nearest benchmark we hold for a job in this pocket of the city.

Moving costs around Abbottsfield, by the numbers

That set runs to 32 communities with 87 residential moves between them, among them Belvedere, Parkdale, Clareview Town Centre and the others adjoining Abbottsfield. Three-quarters were graded small and 21% medium. The middle job held a crew 4 hours on site, half of them landing between 2.13 and 5.63 hours, and came to $679 with tax counted, half the jobs falling between $437 and $1,101. Eighty-seven moves is a modest pool, so read it as a range rather than as a quote.

  • What is a row house or walk-up move like in Abbottsfield?

It is a stairs job rather than a lift job: every home the census counts here is a row house or a low-rise apartment, and none of them stands five storeys or higher. Three-quarters of the moves in the surrounding northeast Edmonton communities graded small, at a 4-hour median on site. A low-rise can still have a lift, so the useful question for the building is whether there is one and whether it can be held.

  • How long does a local move around Abbottsfield take?

The median is 4 hours on site, measured across 87 residential moves in the northeast Edmonton communities next to Abbottsfield, with half of them running between 2.13 and 5.63 hours. Because there is no charge for travel time within city limits, those are billed hours of work. Stairs and the distance from the door out to the truck are what move a job within that band.

  • Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in Abbottsfield?

Only if the truck needs to occupy road space, and then Edmonton's On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit is the route. No fee currently attaches to one. The lead time is the real constraint: a low-impact job such as a residential move should be filed at least 6 working days ahead, high-impact work 10, and processing runs longer through peak construction season. Nothing else is added to the bill either: no deposit on a local move, and no fuel surcharge.

Abbottsfield neighbourhood guide for moving day

Two things on this panel change the logistics. The first is tenure: most households here rent, which ties a move date to the end of a lease far more often than to a possession day, and puts the building rather than you in charge of when the lift and the door are free. The second is the kerb. Edmonton controls a truck occupying road space through an On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit; no fee currently attaches to it, and the notice window is the part worth knowing: low-impact work such as a residential move should be filed at least 6 working days ahead and high-impact work 10, with processing slower through peak construction season.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

Great communication, well organized, efficient, respectful, and hard working. Thank you for helping us move our basement in a timely manner after the flooding - it was reassuring knowing it was in your capable hands.

Ivan and Serg were very professional. Nothing was damaged during the move. They arrived on time and it was a overall smooth process! The company seems to hire professional movers which is nice in comparison to what I have seen in the past with other companies.

If I could give more stars I would. I have never had a better moving experience than I had today with George and Michael they were efficient and so careful with all of our belongings and they were so kind and patient when I would give them instructions on where to go with what.
