Movers in Beacon Heights: what we know about moving here

Most of Beacon Heights was built in 1960 or before, and more than three-quarters of its homes are detached, so the job here is a house move on a possession date: a private front door, interior stairs, and a truck at the curb rather than a loading bay. Nothing in the community reaches five storeys, so there is no tower lift to reserve.

Households are small for the size of the housing, with close to a third of the homes holding a single person, which often makes the load lighter than the floor plan implies and makes the walk from the door to the truck the part of the day worth measuring. The hours and prices below come from the northeast Edmonton communities around Beacon Heights.

Moving costs around Beacon Heights, by the numbers

Beacon Heights sits in a set of 29 northeast Edmonton communities, Belvedere, Parkdale, Clareview Town Centre and the neighbours beside them, carrying 81 completed residential moves. The middle day ran 4 hours on site, with half between 2.25 and 5.75 hours, and cost $700 with tax counted, half of the 81 falling between $444 and $1,111. Seventy-seven per cent were graded small and 19% medium. Eighty-one moves is a modest sample, so the middle half is the useful part of it and the median is a starting point.

How much does it cost to move in Beacon Heights?

The median local move across the 81 jobs in the northeast Edmonton communities around Beacon Heights is $700, total cost with tax, and half of them fell between $444 and $1,111.

  • Why is the price range in Beacon Heights so wide?

Because one median covers every size of home in the set. $444 to $1,111 is the middle half of 81 jobs billed at the same hourly rate, and the difference between the two ends is hours on site: the middle day ran 4 hours, with half of them between 2.25 and 5.75. A walkthrough before the date is what narrows it for your own move.

  • Does moving in winter cost more in Beacon Heights?

No, the hourly rate is the same in every month, so a winter date is priced exactly like a summer one. Across the communities around Beacon Heights, August, January and June carry the most completed moves, so the cold-weather work is ordinary rather than exceptional. What changes the bill is the size of the job, not the date.

  • What is included in the hourly rate for a Beacon Heights move?

The movers and the truck at the size the job needs, with the rate stated in the agreement before anyone lifts anything. There is no deposit on a local move, no fuel surcharge and no charge for travel time within city limits, so the $700 median in that set is a total with tax rather than a subtotal.

Beacon Heights neighbourhood guide for moving day

A job in Beacon Heights usually starts at a private front door on a residential street, which makes the curb rather than a building the thing to settle in advance. Edmonton grants street occupation through an On-Street Construction and Maintenance permit, currently free for several work reasons; the notice window is what matters, at a minimum of 6 working days ahead for low-impact work and 10 for high-impact, with slower processing in peak construction season. Where a driveway will take the truck none of that applies, which is the case for most of the housing here.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

The friendliness and the efficiency of these movers was very excellent. Surinder , Max and Ruslan did a great job with packing me up and getting me out very quickly. I would not hesitate to get them again! The boys were respectful, patient and very kind . This was a very difficult move for me.

Cactus Moving did an outstanding job with our condo-to-house move! The 3-person crew (Maksym, Chint, Matthew) arrived early, took time to understand what needed to be moved, and laid down mats to protect the floors & stairs.

10/10 (more than that) recommend Cactus Moving. Lovish and Vadym went above and beyond for me with my move. We showed up to my new rental and the stairs had been removed by the contractor so no way to get in… but they handled that with ease and got everything done with care.
