Lawrence Park South is mostly houses, but not entirely. Close to a fifth of its homes sit in a building of five storeys or more, and a similar share again are low-rise apartments, so a crew arriving in the morning is meeting a front walk most of the time and a lobby often enough to matter. Those are different days: one wants a lift window and a loading door arranged with the building, the other wants a driveway and a clear path to the truck. Ownership runs high, which puts most dates on a closing, and most of the housing was standing in 1960 or before.
What follows is measured across the northwest Toronto communities this one sits among. That is a wider frame than the neighbourhood alone, and the closest read we hold on the hours and the cost of a job around here.
Moving costs around Lawrence Park South, by the numbers
Lawrence Park South has too few closed jobs to publish a figure alone, so the band above draws on 33 northwest Toronto communities and the 91 residential moves recorded between them. York University Heights is the heaviest at 13, then Yorkdale-Glen Park at 10 and Willowdale West at 8, with Yonge-Doris, Bedford Park-Nortown and Lansing-Westgate behind. That pool ran a $737 median with tax over a 3.5 hour middle day, half the bills between $539 and $1,227 and half the days between 3 and 5.25 hours. 31% graded medium and 6% large.

What does a local move cost in Lawrence Park South?
$737 at the median across 91 residential moves in the northwest Toronto communities around Lawrence Park South, total cost with tax, with half of them between $539 and $1,227. The rate is hourly. What decides the bill is the number of hours, and the number of hours follows the size of the home and the length of the carry.

Is a Lawrence Park South move usually a house?
Usually. 59% of homes here are single-detached, with 18% in a building of five storeys or more and 17% in low-rise apartments. Most of the housing was standing in 1960 or before, so the staircase is old, often narrow, and the piece that decides whether a wardrobe goes up it whole or comes apart first.
-
How long does a move in Lawrence Park South take?
3.5 hours at the middle of the 91 pooled jobs, with half of them between 3 and 5.25 hours. 31% of that work was graded medium and 6% large, which is the house share of the pool showing through. Households here hold 2.6 people, so a full home is a real day and worth walking through before the booking.
-
Which neighbourhoods are the Lawrence Park South figures based on?
Thirty-three northwest Toronto communities that adjoin one another, this one included, and their 91 completed residential moves. York University Heights supplies 13, Yorkdale-Glen Park 10 and Willowdale West 8. On its own this boundary holds too few closed jobs to publish, so the pooled number is what the page can honestly show.
-
Is one time of year busier in Lawrence Park South?
July led the surrounding communities with 14 completed moves, June had 11 and February 10. The hourly rate is the same in each, so those are counts of work rather than of price. With 69% of homes owned here, the date usually follows a closing, which tends to be known weeks in advance.

Lawrence Park South neighbourhood guide for moving day
Two things on this list change the day itself. The first is that this is mostly detached housing with a real apartment minority, so a booking here is usually stairs and a front path, but often enough a lift window and a loading bay that it is worth saying which you have when you book. The second is tenure: with most homes owned rather than rented, most dates follow a closing, and a closing is the thing most likely to shift after the booking is made. The curb is unsettled either way, since the City publishes no page covering a moving truck parked outside a house, so 311 is where to check your own street.

Figures come from Cactus’s own completed residential moves (business and high-frequency accounts excluded) and from official municipal open data; they are medians and quartiles, never averages, every published figure rests on at least five moves, percentages are rounded, and all-time counts are floors because some older pickup and drop-off addresses were never geocoded.

Cactus moving did a fantastic job, the team was professional and timely. If I’m moving again I would definitely use them. I recommend them as well. My only suggestion would be to avoid using DoorDash/ Uber Eats to send over the complimentary beverage, unless you have a deal with them.

I recently faced a pretty big challenge—moving into a new home—and honestly, I was completely overwhelmed. I had no time to properly prepare: my stuff was all over the place, some furniture was half-disassembled, and some pieces would have to be carried by hand.
