Movers in The Beaches: what we know about moving here

The Beaches is a low-rise neighbourhood that mostly owns its homes, and both halves of that change a moving day. Towers are the exception here rather than the rule, so the service elevator and the booked loading bay that govern so much of Toronto barely come up; what comes up instead is a front door, a staircase, and how close a truck can legally stand to it. Ownership rather than tenancy also means most dates here are pinned to a closing.

Our own record is short, recent and consistent. Nine residential moves are attributed to this boundary and all nine fall inside the last twelve months, 89% of them graded small. The middle one ran 3 hours on site and came to $510 with tax included. The figures for the communities around it run higher on both counts, which is the difference between compact work and full houses.

The Beaches neighbourhood guide for moving day

Two things on this panel decide the day here. The first is that The Beaches is built low: the elevator reservation that governs so much of a Toronto move barely applies, and what governs instead is the staircase inside an older home and the width of the doorway at the top of it. The second is the curb. The City publishes nothing that covers a moving truck standing outside your door. Its permit is written for containers instead, so ring 311 about your own street before the date rather than after it. And because most households here own rather than rent, the date usually belongs to a closing.

The Beaches moving costs, by the numbers

The band above counts residential jobs where one address, collected or delivered, sat inside The Beaches: at least nine since 2025, and all of them within the last twelve months, which makes this a picture of the current year rather than a long history. Eight carried a final price and eight recorded a crew size, so the $510 midpoint and the one-to-two mover range both rest on eight jobs. Half the work ran between 3 and 3.5 hours, a tight span by any reading.

What a move this size costs in Southeast Toronto

Sizes of move cut out of the completed residential jobs in Southeast Toronto, the communities beside this one. The Beaches has fewer than five of its own at each size, and a band resting on fewer than five moves is not published here at any scope.

The Beaches produces fewer than five one-bedroom jobs of its own, so this card is the 54 recorded at that size across Southeast Toronto: $749 in the middle, half of them between $585 and $991, and 3.5 hours on site with half of them inside 3 to 5.19 hours. Two movers and one truck. Much of that wider set is tower work, while here it is more likely a flat in a low-rise or the upper half of an older house, which puts a staircase where the lift would be.

Fewer than five moves of this size here, so these figures come from Southeast Toronto, across 54 moves.

At two bedrooms the sample widens again, to the 15 recorded at that size across Southeast Toronto. The middle day ran 5.5 hours on site with half between 3.88 and 7.13 hours, on two movers and one truck, and the middle bill was $1,098 with half of them between $612 and $1,328. Fifteen jobs is a thin base and the spread shows it. A second bedroom in an older Beaches home usually means a second flight as well, which is where those extra hours go.

Fewer than five moves of this size here, so these figures come from Southeast Toronto, across 15 moves.

How much does it cost to move in The Beaches?

$510 is the middle of the 8 priced jobs recorded inside the boundary, with half of them between $359 and $579. That is under the $719 middle across the 129 moves in the 32 southeast Toronto communities around it. Eight jobs is a short list, so the band is the more useful half, but every one of those jobs is from the past year.

  • Why does a move in The Beaches cost less than one in the neighbourhoods nearby?

Because the days are shorter, not because the rate is lower. 89% of the local work graded small and the middle job ran 3 hours on site against 3.25 across the surrounding communities. Only 8% of homes here are in a building of five storeys or more, so there is rarely a shared lift adding waiting to the carrying.

  • How long does a local move in The Beaches take?

3 hours is the middle of the 9 moves attributed to this boundary, and half of them ran between 3 and 3.5 hours. That is a narrow half-hour of spread, which is unusual on a base this size and worth more than the midpoint on its own. The crew median is 2 movers across the 8 that recorded one.

  • Is a house move in The Beaches different from an apartment move?

It is longer, and both turn up here: 28% of homes are detached and 41% are flats in low-rise buildings. A house adds a basement and a second staircase to the job. A low-rise flat may or may not have a lift, so ask the building rather than assuming, because that answer changes the route out.

  • Do I need a permit to park a moving truck in The Beaches?

Toronto publishes nothing that decides it. The permit on the City's books covers containers left on the road rather than a truck being loaded, so 311 is where to ask about your own street. On a low-rise street where the truck cannot stop close to the door, the extra walk is what shows on an hourly bill.

Ask Toronto in person, or price the move yourself in a minute.
